At 1:28 p.m., over 1,300 global users reported issues using Chat GPT Open AI.
However, the company has specified that its ‘ChatGPT Work,’ tailored for creating polished docs, decks, spreadsheets, sites, reports and more, is the platform having problems.
“ChatGPT Work isn’t working right now. Sorry about that, we’re working on a fix!” ChatGPT said in a statement posted at 2:30 p.m. Monday on X.

The major problems users are currently experiencing is 90% to do with OpenAI, 4% app issues and 3% web browser issues
The OpenAI status page states that it is “seeing elevated errors and latency” and that “User across multiple subscription plans may be unable to start or continue tasks in ChatGPT Work.”
The site identifies the issues as ongoing for 4 hours.
“We are continuing work on implementing a mitigation.”
Trending Google searches highlight ChatGPT ‘network error’
Trrending Google searches on Monday afternoon, Aug. 31 include “Is ChatGPT down?” “ChatGPT network error” and “ChatGPT not working.”
According to the company’s help page, when faced with the following messages: “A network error occurred,” “An error occurred while connecting to the websocket,” the errors suggest that your device is unable to establish a reliable connection to servers.
Suggestions on the site include:
- Disable VPNs or proxy connections
- Turn off Web Protect or other security filters
- Try a different browser or incognito mode
- Switch to a different network or device
